Mastini is plural for Mastino An ancient breed, rediscovered in Italy in the 1940's, the Neapolitan Mastiff is a heavy-boned, massive, awe inspiring dog bred for use as a guard and defender of owner and property. In Italy this dog is known as Mastino Napoletano or IL Mastino. The Neapolitan Mastiff is noble and majestic. Steady and loyal in character, not aggressive nor liable to bite without reason, a defender of property and its inhabitants, he is always vigilant and intelligent. The dog for the house should be a (Neapolitan Mastiff) so that during the day a prowler can see him and be frightened by his appearance. When night falls the dog, lost in the shadows, can be around without being seen, with a docile, unaggresssive character, and is a matchless defender of its master and his property... The Neapolitan Mastiff is a truly unique animal - and a fantastic companion... " We Luv Em ! " Jim and Lola Farmer |
